Hello it’s me, Kristina here again! It’s back to the chopping board or kitchen counter because we’re gonna have another great time talking about, yes, you guessed right, smoothies, how to make them, what to put into them, what they taste like and why they’re so damn good for us. This particular post is a reminder on the 60/40 percentage formula I told you about earlier, much, much earlier, if you can recall and you’ve been keeping up to date.
If you’ve just joined us, well then, welcome aboard guys. You’ll be having a great time, of that you can be sure. Satisfaction guaranteed. That’s guaranteed in the posts you’ll be reading from now on. And it’s guaranteed in all of the fruit and vegetable smoothie recipe variations that I am presenting you with. If you’re a newbie here, do yourself a favor. Once you’ve finished reading this brilliantly smooth post on how to make a vegetable smoothie and learning about the strange world of consummate vegans, you can go all the way back to the home page menu and start reading from the beginning.
Read the About Kristina page, that’s quite important. It’s going to give you some inside info on how this magic smoothie blog runs. Then you can start reading. You’ll come across some of my exciting moments, like the time I first discovered the avocado smoothie recipe. You’ll be done in a zip because I’m damn sure you’re going to love each and every post that’s been published. Yup, even if you read through the posts slooooow-ly, you’ll still be done in a bit. Because that’s Kristina’s style. She keeps things smooth and she knows how to give his readers a fine time.
It is all about motivation, guys. It’s like me being a mighty fine door to door salesman, never, ever giving up until you’ve tried and tasted your first smoothie that I’ve waved in front of you from my extensive green smoothie recipe collection. Right, the midway intros are now done and dusted. Time to roll up our smoothie sleeves and get to work. If we run out of time, again, well, hey, we’ll just carry on with the conversation in the next smoothie post.
Smooth or what. Right, here’s a conundrum. The smoothie principle has always been that there should be more fruits than vegetables in your smoothie. Says who? You can stick in anything you darn well please. Apart from the healthy aspects of the smoothie concoction, it should also come down to taste. So if you happen to be like Popeye the Sailor Man, well there you go you can load your veggie only smoothie with as much spinach as you like. This also happens to be smooth if green is your favorite color. Green is my second favorite color. Le Bleu is my favorite color. Read my earlier post on the issue of color in a smoothie.
Vegetable Smoothie Ingredients
Right, so here’s the list of ingredients I’m recommending to you if you want to go vegan. Do you even know what that means? Let me quickly explain. It means that you’re off meat for good. It also means that you can’t even place yummy yogurt or milky ingredients in your vegetable or fruit (or both) smoothie because it’s derived from animals. That’s right, folks, vegans don’t do animals. At all. Are you prepared for that? I’m not, but it isn’t bad. It has been proven that it’s very healthy indeed.
- Two cups of raw, organic spinach
- Quarter cup of parsley
- Half a lemon (which must be peeled)
- Half an avocado (which must be pitted and peeled)
- 1 cup coconut water
- 6 ice cubes
There’s not much else to tell you here other than to give you one simple instruction. It’s that easy, you see. All you have to do is add all the above ingredients to your blender and then blend them until they are all nice and smooth. That’s why it’s called a smoothie, you see. The idea with this recipe is to have it straight away after the blending is done and smoothed. The ingredients are already nicely chilled, thanks to the ice cubes. Where veggies are concerned, I come from the old school that always enjoyed warm, not so cooked vegetables with my meat dishes.
Salads I already love, but that’s a different story of taste and esthetics. So, while you can stick your smoothie blend in the refrigerator for an hour or so until you’re ready to consume it, I prefer to have mine right away. Flippin cold veggies at this time of the day is still quite an adjustment for me to make. It seems as though my work is just about done here, quite early, for a change. So, let me move straight on to the next smoothie idea I had in mind.
This next smooth idea of mine has heavy dudes and big girls in mind. And before you frown at me for calling you so, that is if you are heavily overweight and bordering on being branded morbidly obese, just make a note here that I’ve been there. Ja, I was heavy too. Most of my weight was centered around the stomach area. It was mightily uncomfortable as you can well imagine. Now, it’s the other way round. I had to chuck quite a few pairs of trousers out. They no longer fit me. Too big and large. Now, I only have a couple of pairs of skinny jeans and a few pairs of summer tops to knock about in. But it feels really great to be slim and trim.
